The Remington Group Apprenticeship Programme

Meet Timothy Gei, an aspiring ICT Technician who is part of the Remington Group Apprenticeship Programme and is a Junior Service Technician with FX Business Centre.

Timothy graduated from the Don Bosco Technical School in 2020 with a certificate in IT Technical Technician and was 1 of 15 students shortlisted for the Remington Apprenticeship Programme out of the many who applied. His journey with the FX Business Centre team began on the 3rd of March 2021, and Timothy is one of the most hardworking Service Technician on our team.

“I was one of many students who applied.  When I found out I was selected, I had mixed emotions, both shocked and happy at the same time” Timothy recalls.

The Remington Group’s Apprenticeship Programme is designed to combine on-the-job training and work experience while gaining a recognised qualification.  Participants undergo block courses from technical institutions arranged by the National Apprenticeship Trade and Testing Board in collaboration with The Remington Group of Companies.

The National Apprenticeship Trade and Testing Board in recognition of Timothy’s training under the Remington Group’s Apprenticeship Programme, have awarded Timothy a Contract of Apprenticeship.

“It is truly a great idea as we are helping young people become better people.  There are a lot of young kids roaming the streets that do not have these kinds of opportunities. We also have to close the skills gap between foreigners and nationals, by developing our people at an early age we build our talent in turn building our country” – Tommy Manu, Assistant Director Policy & Planning Department of Labour & Industrial Relations.

“Being a part of The Remington Group’s Apprenticeship Programme has been a life-changing experience for me. It has provided me with an opportunity to learn and grow in a field that I am passionate about. If it wasn’t for this Programme, I would be at home or venturing into an SME to earn money and save up to continue my education” Timothy explains.

FX Business Centre aims to produce skilled service technicians that support our vision of providing essential print, document management and technological solutions. Training our service technicians is paramount to the business as technology is constantly changing, we need to ensure our service team is fully capable of service delivery.  FX Business Centre is the only authorised dealer of Fujifilm Business Innovation Corp in Papua New Guinea.
